Voluntary assisted dying now legal in Queensland

On January 1, 2023, Voluntary Assisted Dying became operational in Queensland.

The Queensland parliament voted to legalise voluntary assisted dying in September 2021 after Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk took the policy to the 2020 election.

As of 1 January this year, Queenslanders suffering a disease, illness or medical condition that is advanced, progressive and terminal can now ask for medically-assisted death.
