Personal Stories

Safe and compassionate Voluntary Assisted Dying laws are a necessary response to the countless experiences of people suffering bad deaths and the legacy of grief that exists in our communities.

The campaign to develop a Voluntary Assisted Dying law in Victoria was built upon the personal stories of Victorians whose family members experienced bad deaths, or who wanted laws developed for themselves. Without their brave voices we would not have succeeded in bringing a Voluntary Assisted Dying law to Victoria.

On this page you can read or listen to a few of those stories,  as well as stories from those willing to share their experience with Voluntary Assisted Dying since the law came into effect here in Victoria.
