As of today, November 28 2023, Voluntary Assisted Dying became a legal end-of-life option for those deemed eligible in NSW. New South Wales is the final state to implement VAD legislation.
We congratulate all those who worked so selflessly and determinedly for many years to reach this day.
Our thoughts particularly are with those, no longer here, who so courageously advocated for VAD legislation knowing that they would never be afforded this compassionate end-of-life option.
There are many media articles of course about this! Here are just a few examples:
Voluntary assisted dying will be legal in NSW from today. Mark wants the choice to end his life
Cathy said her brother’s death was ‘appalling’. Now other NSW patients like him can ask to die
Scott fought for the right to die. Now he hopes he never has to use it
